Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
